JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Bookkeeper
Department: Finance and Administration
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
POSITION SUMMARY
Maintain the accounting records and reports necessary to provide management with the information required to effectively monitor the Company’s performance and to monitor levels of business activity, spending and expense trends, sales and gross margin levels. Insure the accuracy of the accounts receivable and general ledger systems. Advise and assist management and department managers with the analysis of information relating to spending and expense activity and history for their areas of responsibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Receive, record, and post all payments received from customers in settlement of open balances.
· Reconcile receipts to open balances and identify any skipped or missed invoices. Investigate and review exceptions with the CFO.
· Issue customer statements once a month and ensure that they are sent in a timely manner. Contact customers as necessary to effect collection of open balances. Communicate with Account Managers regarding their customers’ payments and balances.
· Identify, prepare, add, depreciate, and maintain all fixed assets using the Sage fixed asset software program.
· Reconcile all cash accounts daily. Initiate wires and all cash transactions. Maintain Key Numbers spreadsheet daily.
· Prepare general ledger account and bank account reconciliations on a regular monthly basis. Review accruals and make necessary adjustments to all accruals and ensure that month-end cut-offs are observed.
· Assist CFO in month end closing. Create and enter journal entries, generate month end close reports.
· Assist CFO with yearly audit review as needed.
· Maintain a high level of communication between the Accounting Department and all operating departments to ensure that all information required to properly control staffing costs and operating expenses is available and reviewed on a regular basis.
· Communicate operating issues, plans, goals and results to the CFO and Administration.

EDUCATION
Accounting degree, training, or equivalent job experience.
EXPERIENCE
Two – Four Years’ experience in finance or accounting. Experience with Accounting Software and Excel.
Mathematical Skills
· Ability to work with mathematical concepts and conversions.
· Ability to work with statistical data and apply concepts such as whole numbers and fractions, ratios and proportions and work with measurement devices.
· Ability to work with and convert units of production and convert those units to dollars.
· Ability to identify and analyze trends.
Other Skills and Abilities
· Technical experience in financial reporting and accounting in a manufacturing environment in the textile industry.
· The ability to train, motivate and develop a highly effective accounting department.
· A commitment to success.
· High level of ability with financial computer applications, database, spreadsheets and other analysis tools.
· Excellent organizational and communication skills.
