What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Specialist - Related Services position at Baltimore City Public School System?
The Staff Specialist- Related Services will develop and implement project plans, promote policies, procedures and other administrative programs for the Related Services Unit and Office of Special Education.
Essential Functions
- Assists in designing and implementing a plan for monitoring compliance with established standards at the system, area, and school levels.
- Manages data and assists in analyzing and reporting compliance data and outcomes.
- Supports related services leadership ability to lead extended project teams.
- Works with related services leadership to complete all necessary reporting and audits.
- Represents the Office of Special Education on inter and intra component workgroups.
- Drives the documentation for projects, ensuring the accuracy and quality of regulatory data.
- Prepares and submits appropriate written reports of missing services documentation to the Director and Coordinators of Related Services.
- Assists in systems investigations as required.
- Implements the prevention plan process to include : receiving, processing, tracking, and monitoring Prevention Plans to ensure efficient assignment and implementation of IEP services, to prevent service disruption for service areas which include : physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, psychology, social work services, audiology, and counseling services.
- Monitors, reviews, synthesize, and analyze data files related to Prevention Plan activities and other documentation / data types, as assigned.
- Develops and prepares reports and monthly statistics as requested by the Director and / or Coordinator of Relator Services.
- Reviews related service provider logs and Third Party Billing documentation to ensure compliance; completes monthly data cleansing reports prior to billing submission to ensure compliance.
- Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.
