The Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks is accepting applications for Beach and Park Assistant Managers - Miami Beach and Rocky Point Beach Summer Seasonal Employment.
Schedule: 40 hours per week - Summer Seasonal
Several temporary summer seasonal vacancies exist in the Department of Recreation and Parks at various locations throughout Baltimore County.
Seasonal temporary positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.
Locations: Must have reliable transportation. Facilities are not located on public transportation lines.
Miami Beach is located at 4001 Bay Drive, Middle River, Maryland 21220.Rocky Point Beach is located at 2200 Rocky Point Road, Essex, Maryland 21221.
Definition of Responsibility
This position is responsible for assisting with the operation and supervision of an assigned beach, park, or other facilities.

Examples of Duties
Job Purpose
Under direct supervision, will assist with the operation and supervision at the Miami Beach and Rocky Point Beach facilities.
Examples of Essential Job Duties
Assist in supervising, scheduling and training seasonal staff.
Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment necessary.
In the absence of the Manager, exercise and perform all manager duties.
Monitor cashiers and verify transactions, daily report and deposits for the day.
Make bank deposits.
Deal with customers as situations arise.
Supervise rentals of watersports equipment.
Supervise and lead programs.
Safeguard swimmers and non-swimmers using beach and park facilities.
Enforce swimming and facility rules and regulations to the public.
Keep facilities clean and free from hazards.
Alert patrons to changing weather and water conditions.
Perform routine tasks as assigned. (Such as cleaning bathrooms, removing trash from barrels, cleaning grills and grounds and minor maintenance)
Lead programs for the members of the public and groups.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age by May 1, 2025
Must be able to work weekends and holidays throughout the summer and have days off on the weekdays
Must have reliable transportation
Facilities are not located on public transportation lines
Must be able to pass a criminal background check, physical and drug test
Preferred Considerations
Two (2) years of lifeguarding experience preferred
Prior experience in customer service preferred

Licenses and Certificates
Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification by May 1, 2025
Must have current American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED by May 1, 2025

Retirement
Employees are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees' Retirement System, with very limited exceptions.
Paid Leave
Sick Leave - Monthly sick leave earnings prorated based on the number of hours worked per week. No maximum on accrual. Accrued balance can be applied toward service credit at retirement.
Vacation Leave - Monthly vacation leave earnings prorated based on the number of hours worked per week. Earnings increase after five, ten and fifteen years of service generally.
Holidays - Part-time 30 to 39 hour non-merit or non-classified employees will generally be paid for ten holidays per calendar year. Other part-time, non-merit or non-classified employees working 29 hours per week or less will receive two paid holidays per calendar year. These holidays are the Christmas holiday and the Independence Day holiday.
