Pay Schedule II, Grade H24, Regular Schedule: 40 hours per week
A vacancy exists in the Office of Budget and Finance, Division of Property Management.

Under general supervision, installs, maintains, and repairs digital and analog communications and related electronic and/or computer based equipment.- Installs, maintains, and repairs analog and digital electronic and computer based equipment used in telephone and data communications.
- Installs, maintains, repairs, and relocates telecommunication systems, including telephone, data communication, and video transmission systems.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs security and fire alarm systems.
- Instructs users in operation of systems.
- Operates various equipment and devices needed to perform maintenance and repair of electronic systems, equipment, and components.
- Operates a motor vehicle to travel between work sites.
- Maintains accurate equipment maintenance records.
- Maintains knowledge of technological advances related to all duties.
- Leads and instructs lesser skilled employees.
- Prepares cost estimates for installation, modification, and repair.
- Assists in the development of equipment and system specifications.
- Performs other related duties as required.

plus
at least four years' experience in the maintenance and repair of communications equipment, including digital and micro-processor based equipment, telecommunications, or alarm systems.
Additional education in electronic technology or a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.
Additional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience installing, maintaining and repairing security and fire alarm systems.
Character Requirements
All applicants must be of good character and emotionally stable as determined by a comprehensive background investigation and test for illegal drug use.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.

Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE

The work of this classification entails the performance of physical activities including walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and the operation of vehicles, tools, and equipment. Some duties require exposure to potentially hazardous conditions such as adverse weather and electricity. Duties require travel between work sites.
Persons appointed to this classification may be required to work overtime, callback, and/or rotating shift work, which will include nights, weekends, and/or holidays when scheduled.
Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
