Regular Schedule: 20 hours per week, A Non-Merit vacancy exists in the Sheriff's Office.
Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.

You MUST meet the following requirements before you can be hired in the above classification:
- 1. Must be a retired sworn Police, Sheriff employee and/or have separated in good standing;
- 2. Have at least two (2) years' experience as a Police Officer or Deputy Sheriff;
- 3. Must have current MPCTC certification or have been previously MPCTC certified,
- 4. Have a high school diploma, GED, or an appropriate equivalent;
- 5. Be at least 21 years of age at the time you submit your application;
- 6. Must be a citizen of the United States;
- 7. All applicants must be of good moral character and emotionally stable, as determined by a background investigation and drug test.

Under close supervision, performs a variety of investigative and regulatory functions, as well as some administrative duties in support of sheriff operations and related services.- Interacts with the general public, state’s attorney’s office, assistant state’s attorney’s office personnel, court judges, court personnel, other jurisdiction uniformed/plain clothes and civilian staff.
- Operates radio, telephone and other communications devices.
- Provides security by screening and controlling access of persons entering the circuit court for baltimore county.
- Maintains peace and security of the courts, the courts building complex, and judicial employees.
- Answers general employment inquiries, consults and advises potential applicants.
Examples of Other Duties
Maintains vehicles. Participates in public relations duties by speaking to school, civic, and other groups regarding functions of the Sheriff's Office. May perform clerical duties. Performs other related duties as required.

Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-commercial Class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
