- Inspects and analyzes local traffic conditions and data.
- Conducts traffic counts, surveys, and studies.
- Investigates field conditions, and determines the need for new traffic control installations, or the modification or replacement of existing installations.
- Investigates complaints and reports of potential traffic hazards.
- Reviews work zone traffic control.
- Conducts neighborhood traffic management studies.
- Prepares reports and summarizes statistics regarding findings.
- Prepares sketches of existing conditions and proposed traffic control changes such as channelization plans and signal and marking plans.
- Prepares and writes traffic legislation proposals.
- Initiates and prepares work orders.
- Makes field inspections to ensure work was completed in accordance with prepared plans and specifications.
