What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Nurse (Overnight) position at Baltimore Crisis Response, INC?
The primary goal of this position is to coordinate the intake, triage and admission process for all clients referred to BCRIs Residential Medical Detoxification Program. The Intake Nurse Specialist (INS) will work closely with Lead Physician and Director of the Residential Medical Detoxification Program to ensure that individuals admitted to this program meet the necessary medical necessity criteria and are appropriate for this level of care.
- Works in collaboration with the Lead Physician, Director of the Residential Medical Detoxification Program and Residential Case Manager to coordinate admissions and maintain bed availability
- Contacts the individuals referred to complete the triage screen and coordinates the admission date for clients
- Serves as the main point of contact for all admissions to the Residential Medical Detoxification Program
- Works in collaboration with the Mobile Crisis Team regarding admissions to Medical Residential Detoxification Unit or the Crisis Residential Unit
- Tracks all admissions and discharges to the program and sends regular updates on the census to key staff in the Residential Medical Detoxification Program
- Coordinates with nursing and residential staff regarding client admissions
- Provides timely and effective nursing evaluations of clients including their addiction, mental health and somatic concerns
- Provides timely and accurate recording of addiction, mental health and somatic needs and issues
- Maintains ongoing and open communication with the Lead Physician regarding all client care issues
- Monitors and administer medication to clients.
- Acts as an effective consultant to other staff and outside agencies regarding the intake and admission process
- Provides training and teaching experiences to staff, interns and volunteers
- Provides client individual and group teaching
- Performs other duties as requested and required by Nurse Director
Educational Requirements:
Candidates must have appropriate State of Maryland licensure to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.
Experience:
The candidate must have 3 years or more experience working in the addiction or co-occurring disorder field.
Physical Demands:
Moderate walking, standing, climbing stairs and sitting requires light to moderate lifting.
Working Conditions:
Works generally in a well-lighted and ventilated office environment with standard office supplies and/or equipment (desk, chairs, telephone, computers). May be requested to work weekends May be required to work flexible hours as needed
