What are the responsibilities and job description for the On Site PRN Interpreter Swahili/Kinyarwanda (Highlandtown) position at BALTIMORE MEDICAL SYSTEM, INC.?
- Interprets accurately for BMS providers and non-English speaking patients/family members of the specified language groups.
- Provides accurate interpretation and communication of information (referral information, billing, medical procedures/tests, etc.).
- Contacts non-English speaking patients and accurately transmits messages from clinical teams via appropriate means.
- Documents activities appropriately in the Electronic Medical Records System.
- Uses professionally mandated techniques in the interpreting process.
- Upholds the interpreter's code of ethics during the interpreting encounter.
- Completes all bi-lingual tasks requested by the supervisor in a timely and satisfactory manner.
- Assists with departmental outreach and community health education efforts
- High School Diploma or equivalent education and/or experience.
- 12 months of professional interpreting experience preferred.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in BOTH English and target language.
- Basic computer skills
