Job Summary:
This position works closely with the Major League coaching staff, Analytics, and Player Development departments to develop and maintain player development plans, use data and technology to evaluate player performance, and build and maintain digital tools to track player improvement.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Major League coaching staff to create, execute, and document player plans.
- Collaborate with Major League coaching, Player Development, and Analytics to build and maintain digital tools to assist in coaching of players and evaluate player performance.
- Provide Major League coaching staff with materials to be presented to players for purposes of player improvement.
- Complete ad hoc and systematic research using SQL and R/Python to enhance in-game strategy and/or player improvement.
- Manage and operate various portable tracking technologies to assist with player improvement.
- Work with Analytics to develop and maintain new and existing advance materials.
- Assist Major League coaching staff with preparation of qualitative and quantitative advance materials, as needed.
Desired Qualifications:
- Completion of Bachelor’s degree, with a preference but not limited to Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or related field.
- Experience working with and/or coaching professional baseball players.
- Prior experience creating, executing, and documenting individualized player development plans.
- Proficiency with BATS video software, TrackMan and portable tracking technologies.
- Proficiency with SQL, R/Python, and Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with advance materials for a Major League club.
- Exceptional organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate with players and staff members of various backgrounds and responsibilities.
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours (nights, weekends, holidays) as dictated by Orioles and MLB schedule.
- Ability to travel for Major League spring training and road trips.
