Overview
The School Resource Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining safety and order within the school. This position involves enforcing laws, preventing crime, and providing assistance to those in need. A stipend of up to $525.99 per pay is available in lieu of insurance should you elect to not take the insurance.
Duties
- Provide a safe enviroment and protect students and staff members of the assigned school.
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents.
- Conduct thorough criminal investigations, including gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting incidents, arrests, and investigations.
- Enforce traffic laws and regulations, conducting stops when necessary.
- Engage in community outreach programs to educate the public on safety practices.
- Manage conflicts effectively to de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
- Handle animals in distress or involved in incidents as needed.
- Maintain proficiency in surveillance techniques and equipment usage.
- Provide first aid and CPR assistance during emergencies.
Skills
- Be able to connect with students on their level and communicate effectively.
- Strong surveillance skills to monitor activities and identify suspicious behavior.
- Proficient driving skills for safe operation of police vehicles under various conditions.
- Knowledge of criminal investigation procedures and techniques.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is highly desirable.
- Ability to handle animals safely and humanely when required.
- Understanding of military tactics can be beneficial for certain law enforcement scenarios.
