Role Overview
This position is primarily focused on BAM’s strategic initiative to build out a Commodities Physicals business. Our CTRM (Commodity Trading & Risk Management) software is used to capture and process complex physical trades. In addition, this role will also support commodities front office applications, data, and their integration with middle and back-office systems. This is a front office facing role facing off to key Portfolio Managers, Traders, and Analysts. The candidate must have focused knowledge of financial markets, trade lifecycles, and CTRM systems experience. The optimal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in an investment advisor firm with strong experience supporting commodities products (forwards, swaps, options, swaptions and physical products)
Responsibilities will include:
- Enhance, support, and maintain the firm’s front, middle and back-office commodities systems
- Work as a part of the global application support team based in Chicago, New York, London, San Francisco, and Hong Kong
- Proactively engage with PMs, Traders, and Analysts and developers to resolve issues and identify improvement opportunities
- Support other geographic locations e.g., monitor jobs running overnight in Asia, Europe, and US.
- Work with external vendors technical support teams to resolve issues and deliver strategic enhancements
- Document solutions to common issues, trade flows and procedures on Confluence
- Roll out, setup, and educate end-users on new product implementations
- Provide escalation support for other regions, including evenings and weekends, on a rotational basis
To be considered a good technical fit, you must have:
- 5 years of experience working with investment banks, asset managers, commodity houses, investment advisors or associated software vendor
- MUST have prior experience supporting and/or implementing CTRM/ETRM platforms such as ION Endur/CXL.
- Experience with energy / commodity markets with a strong understanding of one or more of the following: US and European Power, Gas, Oil, Coal, Metals, Emissions etc. . Must be able to discuss details of these products with Portfolio Managers, Analysts and Risk Managers.
- Experience supporting Commodities trading platforms such as Trayport Joule, WebICE and EEX
- Strong troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities, including being able to interpret, understand and troubleshoot internally developed systems
- Knowledge of Market Data services – Trayport/B-PIPE/MorningStar
- Knowledge of Messaging platforms – RabbitMQ/Solace/Kafka
- SQL experience across various database implementations, including MS-SQL
- Exposure to support of Linux, C , C#, Python based applications
- Operate with a high degree of accuracy with close attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
