Position Summary
Bancroft School seeks a Lower and Middle School Physical Education Teacher who will be responsible for creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment that promotes physical activity, teamwork, and healthy habits. This position will plan and deliver developmentally appropriate PE lessons that align with the school’s curriculum, support the physical and social-emotional growth of students, assess student progress, communicate with families as needed, and collaborate with colleagues to support the overall well-being and development of each child.
- Plan and implement a comprehensive curriculum that meets the educational needs of elementary and middle school-aged students.
- Develop and deliver engaging and differentiated instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies to enhance student learning experiences.
- Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, and use data to inform instructional decisions.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth and development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, academic performance, and behavioral incidents.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to coordinate instruction, share best practices, and promote a positive school culture.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends, research, and best practices.
- Adhere to school policies, procedures, and expectations, including those related to classroom management, safety, and confidentiality.
- Serve as a positive role model for students, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
- Valid teaching license or certification appropriate for the grade level and subject area preferred.
- Prior experience teaching Physical Education at the elementary and middle school levels.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development, educational theory, and best practices in instruction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction and classroom management.
