We are looking for a Nuclear Safety Advisors to join our dynamic team in our Albuquerque and / or White Rock office.
Position Description
The Nuclear Safety Advisor supports the NA-ESH's independent oversight role to assure Nuclear Explosive Safety (NES). This senior-level role provides technical expertise to evaluate, improve, and oversee NES assessment processes and operations. The advisor is responsible for delivering actionable recommendations, conducting assessments, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols for nuclear explosive operations.
Key Responsibilities
- NES Process Evaluation and Improvement :
Evaluate and provide recommendations to enhance the NES assessment process.
Participate in NES evaluations and studies, offering expertise in areas such as tooling design, explosive safety, environmental safety, and nuclear weapons assembly / disassembly.
Engage with stakeholders, including NA-12, CDNS, and the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB), to discuss safety initiatives and improvements.
Travel to NNSA headquarters, national laboratories, and operational sites for evaluations.
Essential Skills
Qualifications
Master's degree preferred; bachelor's degree required in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or Physics with a focus on nuclear studies, Materials Science, or Chemistry Experience.
15 years of senior-level experience in safety evaluations, high-consequence operations, or peer reviews.
Active DOE "Q" level Security Clearance and Sigma 15 access (or ability to obtain).
