Summary of Responsibilities
Estimators are responsible for evaluating bid specifications, drawings, and City requirements for each project. Estimators must consistently follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received. Estimators will work with the Pre-Construction team to follow-up on bids and budgets submitted to Clients. At Bandera Utility Contractors LLC, our business strategy is to be the most initiative-taking contractor.
Estimator Job duties
- Bid Administration
- Prepares and maintains status of plan reproduction.
- Solicits and maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors.
- Prepares subcontractor bid packages.
- Shows creativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing from subcontractors.
- Submits 100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadline.
- Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask follow-up questions on every bid.
- Has a thorough understanding of the scope for specific trades assigned.
- Understand, Occasional, additional time and efforts "beyond normal work hours" will be required to meet bid deadlines.
- Maintains and Updates Bid List Tracker.
- Complete all activities with pride of ownership.
- Follow up & closing.
- Consistently follows up on submitted bids and budgets with Clients to close business.
- Manage all subcontractor interactions in a manner designed to build a long-term relationship.
- Develop personal / social relationships with selective subcontractors.
- Properly turns over bid documents and sub buyout information to Operations Team in a timely manner.
- Review drawings with Operations Team and highlight areas of concern.
- Once Project is completed, review Final Job Cost vs Bid Budget with Operations team.
Requirements for position:
- Must have experience with HCSS Heavy Jobs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must know Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Project.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow-up skills both internally and externally.
- Must be professional and polished in appearance and speech.
