What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Technician position at Bandits Stay and Play?
Full-Time Kennel Technician (30–40 hrs/week)
Location: Bandit’s Stay and Play – Orem, UT
Pay: Starts at $10/hr during 90-day trial, with potential raise to $12/hr based on performance
We don’t just clean kennels—we change lives.
This job is not for the faint of heart. There will be poop. There will be pee. There may be blood, vomit, and the occasional dog brawl. But if you’re the type who shows up, pitches in, and doesn’t flinch when things get messy—if you can stay calm in chaos, react quickly in emergencies, and care deeply about the animals and people around you—you might just be exactly who we’re looking for.
At Bandit's Stay and Play, our full-time kennel technicians are more than cleaners and feeders. You’re caretakers, teammates, safety monitors, and joy-bringers. You’ll be cleaning, lifting, feeding, and handling dogs (and cats!) of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. Some are sweet. Some are spicy. All of them deserve to be safe, healthy, and treated with kindness.
Flexibility is key—weekends and holidays are required, because the animals don’t take days off. Our facility runs 365 days a year, and we rely on each other to keep it going. When someone doesn’t show up, quits without notice, or brings in drama, it doesn’t just impact the humans—it affects our animals too. We're a small, close-knit team, and we take that responsibility seriously.
This is hard work, but it’s also heart work. We offer professional development, paid education time, and a chance to grow as a human alongside a supportive, emotionally intelligent team. No two days are the same—and every single one makes a difference.
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Are dependable, emotionally grounded, and physically capable
- Have a sense of humor and a strong stomach
- Can stay calm when things get hectic
- Are flexible and ready to work weekends and holidays
- Know how to be someone your team and the animals can count on
- Are comfortable with allergens and not allergic to nuts (we handle nut products)
- Can lift 50 lbs, move quickly throughout your shift and be on your feet all day.
- Are over 18 years old
Bonus points if you:
- Have pet care or kennel experience
- Know how to communicate clearly under pressure
- Have experience working in fast-paced or emotionally intense environments
Perks & Benefits:
- Discounted pet services (pending evaluation)
- Bring-your-dog-to-work option (pending evaluation and availability)
- Paid continued education time
- Access to a workplace focused on emotional intelligence and personal growth
- Hands-on training with lots of variety—no two days are the same
We’re not going to sugarcoat it—kennel work is tough. But if you love dogs more than clean shoes and believe in showing up for your team, we’d love to meet you.
