Bangor Montessori School is a well-established Montessori school located in the heart of Bangor, Maine.
Our school offers Montessori classroom experiences for toddlers through elementary-age students.
As our school grows, we are searching for an Assistant Teacher for our Pre-Primary classroom, working with children ages 2-3years.
The perfect candidate must be nurturing, organized, patient, and adaptable to the ever-changing dynamic of a preschool classroom.

Job Type: Assistant Teacher
- Assist Lead Teacher in a multi-age Montessori classroom of 2-3-year-old children
- Full-Time, approximately 8 - hours daily
- March-June 2025 (possibility for contract renewal for the 2025-2026 school year.)
- Each staff member will receive a teaching contract
- Possibility for summer hours during our science-themed summer camps
Responsibilities:
- Prepare the classroom environment for optimal learning
- Help the Lead Teacher create and follow an individualized student curriculum, honoring each child's learning level
- Attend all monthly full-school staff meetings with the Head of the School
- Attend all staff development and teacher functions
- Establish and maintain a positive teacher/parent relationship
Qualifications:
- Montessori Teaching Credential a plus!
- Have a great understanding of the Montessori philosophy
- Must have the ability to multi-task
- Must have good record-keeping habits, as each child's curriculum varies
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of classroom experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Classroom management skills are a must
- Candidates must be able to carry 50 pounds
- Candidates must be able to crawl, sit, and kneel during each workday

- Compensation is based on experience, averaging $17-20 per hour

- Full-time Staff members (38 hours weekly) receive a 50% discount on one related child's tuition
- School Vacation weeks off, except "change-over" time. February, April, and December
- Most Government Holidays off
- At the end of a contracted year, staff with unused personal/sick days can receive up to $100 for each unused day– based on hourly rates per employee- up to $300 reimbursement total per employee. COVID sick days are not included in this benefit.
