What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Associate position at Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center?
Job Summary
The primary purpose of your job position is to perform a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of the facility and grounds including minor troubleshooting, adjustments, and repairs as well as identifying unsafe conditions. Contribute to the philosophy and goals of the organization (i.e., positive, and respectful attitude with a patient centered focus).
Job Responsibilities:
· Ability to multi-task with items such as but not limited to general carpentry, plumbing, painting tasks, sinks, toilets, drains, faucets, floor care, lawn care, snow removal, repair of equipment and appliances. Ability to identify projects which may require a higher skilled or licensed person.
· Ability to understand and operate emergency, life safety equipment and monitoring panels. Participate in life safety drills on all shifts. Maintain logbooks, inspections, and daily rounds documentation.
· Identify, create, and maintain preventative maintenance program.
· Participate in environment of care activities such as housekeeping, odor control, changing privacy curtains, trash removal, stocking of supplies etc.
· Move furniture and equipment; assemble prefabricated furniture, assist family members and residents with moving furniture as appropriate.
· Maintain grounds in clean and orderly manner including mowing, trimming. Properly maintain and store ground maintenance equipment.
· Ability to effectively and safely use a variety of hand and power tools.
· Ability to participate in an “on call” rotation and assist with building evacuations as needed.
· All behaviors comply with regulations governing the licensing and functioning of skilled nursing facilities, nursing facilities and federal regulations. Willingness to become familiar with and embrace CARF standards.
· Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.
· Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to use or learn to use facility computer programs, send and receive E-Mail, research products on the internet and utilize voice mail.
· Maintain proper inventory of products such as paint, light bulbs, nuts, bolts and toilet parts, etc.
· Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees, vendors and supervisors.
· Ensure that proper egress is maintained at all doorways, exits and stairwells and alert supervisors as appropriate
· Support facility endeavors with regards to environmental stewardship and proper disposal, storage.
· Serve on, participate in and attend various committees of the facility as required and appointed by the Director of Plant Operations, Administrator or Director of Human Potential.
· Assist, observe outside contractors as needed. Ensure their tools are safely stored.
SAFETY AND SANITATION/ENVIROMENTAL
· Follow established standard and safety precautions in the performance of all duties.
· Report to the Director of Plant Operations or Supervisor any hazardous condition or equipment immediately.
· Participate in all annual mandatory in-services.
· Participate in environmental, recycling and/or waste initiatives implemented in the facility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY
· Education or training which provides the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance
· Must have a minimum of 2 years of building maintenance or related trade experience that could be successfully applied in a facility setting.
· Must be able to read English and write the English language in a legible and understandable manner.
· .Must possesses the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
· Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
· As BNRC highly values a process improvement culture, must be willing to seek out new methods and principals and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
· Possession of valid Maine driver’s license, willingness to work outside ( if necessary) in inclement weather
