Banister Nissan of Chesapeake is an automotive dealership that is currently operating with five dealerships. We are seeking an on-site “Part-Time” Payroll Clerk for our corporate office located in Chesapeake, VA. In this role you will provide payroll support to the HR Manager in the areas of administrative duties, data entry, compliance, payroll, and benefits.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing employee records, processing payroll and providing administrative assistance to the HR Manager. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and eager to learn. This is an entry-level position.
Responsibilities
- Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, bonuses, and commissions, monies to be withheld for taxes, employee contributions to insurance and retirement plans.
- Updates master payroll records, taxes, insurance, increases, promotions, and/or transfer of employes between departments and/or locations.
- Maintains vacation and sick day eligibility.
- Communicate, coordinate, and process all aspects in relation to administering
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of federal and state employment laws, and continually
- ensure compliance
- Maintain employee related records according to state and federal guidelines, as well
- as Company policy
- Compile and produce internal reports as required
- Benefits orientations and enrollments as necessary

- Previous Payroll experience is required
- Able to identify solutions to problems
- Must be able to multi-task effectively and efficiently
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, G-Mail and internet research
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial information
