Primary Purpose :

Gain knowledge and experience in a corporate legal department while supporting the department’s goals and objectives with respect to a range of substantive legal areas and through a variety of projects and other tasks. The position offers exposure across all corporate lines of business (bank, mortgage, insurance, benefits, realty, and vacation property management) specific to daily operations.

Assist with legal support for the Bank’s operations, litigation, and governance matters.
Participate in line-of-business communications and workflow task management related to documentation and review and drafting requests.
Contribute to projects related to state and / or federal regulatory and other issues affecting the banking industry.
Assist Legal Department personnel with the maintenance of subsidiary files, program software, due diligence reviews, and related documentation.
Obey all applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations relating to FDIC oversight, including privacy and confidentiality.

Summer Internship Minimum Required Skills and Competencies :

Must be at least 18 years of age or older

Must have completed at least one year at an accredited law school and be currently enrolled in law school

Must be available to work Monday through Friday, May 19 - through mid-August

Must be punctual and dependable

Must work well in a team environment

Must have the ability to balance multiple priorities successfully

Self-starter with a strong ability to work independently

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively utilize modern telecommunications tools

Attention to detail and research-oriented with an inquisitive and studious nature

Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Physical Requirements :

Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.

Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.

Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.

Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
