What You'll be Doing
The Accounting Intern directly assists the Bank Iowa finance team with a wide variety of finance and accounting duties as well as projects requiring financial analysis.
Core Responsibilities
- Complete basic finance and accounting tasks including daily, weekly and monthly account reconciliations.
- Assist with budget variance analysis, variance research, data analysis and business analysis.
- Assist with basic transaction activity of Bank Iowa’s Securities portfolio.
- Create and post general ledger entries.
- Work regularly with mentor to help further develop finance knowledge and soft skills.
- Provide friendly, quality client service and treats internal and external clients with respect and dignity, either in person or on the phone.
- Collaborate with other members of the finance team as well as all levels of management in the bank.
General Responsibilities
- May have access to confidential information about accounts and clients. Protects the privacy and confidentiality of clients, other team members, and work.
- Performs other bank related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Understands and complies with banking regulations by following bank policies and procedures. Stays abreast of relevant regulations, current industry matters, and any changes implemented internally to ensure compliance.
Requirements
Skills/Experience You'll Need
- Enrolled in a four-year or two-year college program with specific Finance & Accounting coursework or experience in the following areas:
- Basic Accounting Principles
- Budgeting
- Financial forecasting
- Financial modeling
- Present and future value concepts
Additional Qualifications Include:

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint.
- Demonstrated research and problem-solving skills

Hours of Work & Travel
- Temporary Employment/Seasonal Employment in Summer 2025
- Generally, within Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- No travel required
