Main Function Summary:
The Physical Security Specialist manages the day-to-day operations of security functions, including training, access control and threat assessments and mitigation.
Additionally, the Physical Security Specialist, delivers, communicates and enforces programs, plans, policies, and procedures in the interest of the Bank of Bird-in-Hand’s security and risk reduction; functions across multiple specialty areas, including but not limited to emergency planning, behavioral threat, and security; ensures the security of all sites including branch and back office locations; responds to notifications of threats; conducts inspections and audits to maintain preparedness; provides education and training to all staff and new hires; ensures established procedures are followed by employees and visitors; contributes to the development of emergency and business continuity plans.
This includes maintaining and overseeing Bank grounds, buildings, and equipment to ensure that a workspace is safe and functional. Duties include inspecting facilities to meet safety regulations, facilities repairs, and coordinating renovations and updates. Additionally, the Security/Facilities Maintenance Assistant provides support for Mobile Units.

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in law enforcement or Security
- Experience with security applications and equipment. Knowledge of security processes and procedures.
- Experience and ability in driving vehicles 34 feet in size or larger.
- Valid Driver’s License. Ability to pass MVL (Motor Vehicle License) background check.
- Ability to read, write, and speak using the English language.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and computer use.
Essential Duties
- Conduct safety and security training for new employees.
- Conduct monthly security audits.
- Manage alarm codes. Manage keys and security badges.
- Assist with workplace security investigations.
- Conduct preliminary investigation of security incidents and determine if escalation is required.
- Submit reports of daily activities and irregularities.
- Assist in assessing existing facility security measures and make recommendations for changes.
- Monitor camera feeds from all locations.
- Assist in the identification and assessment of emerging threats, weaknesses, and opportunities that could impact security operations.
- Assist in recommending updates to policies and procedures, as well as operational security measures that reduce risk and exposure; assist in developing and revising procedures.
- Assist in installation of equipment and vendor contact.
- Assist in responding to Facility or Security after-hour calls.
- Update and maintain processes and procedures.
- Conduct site inspections and compile inspection templates.
- Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary.
- Communicate any issues to the Director of Security.
- Comply with local traffic regulations.
- Comply with all safety procedures and safety of work areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
- Serve as back up for Facilities.
- Perform other duties as required. (add this to the end of the duties)
