Bank of Botetourt is searching for a Universal Banker for our Buchanan Office. Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 3 - 5 years of retail banking experience. Candidates will be responsible for the sales and delivery of retail banking products and services, including opening new accounts and taking consumer loan applications and will interact with both consumer and business market customers with a goal of expanding and fostering banking relationships with existing and future customers and contributing to branch goals. In addition, this position will perform a variety of banking duties such as processing teller transactions, demonstrating superior customer service and promoting bank productions and services.

Position Summary: Maintains multiple skills to meet a customer’s needs for consumer loans, opening new accounts, running teller transactions, and various customer service requests.
Essential Functions of the Universal Banker:
- Ensures adherence with bank policies and procedures related to the teller function.
- Maintains a high level of product knowledge and procedural expertise to assist staff members with technical problems.
- May join area service clubs and organizations and represent the bank at their functions and meetings.
- Continuously demonstrates a helpful, friendly attitude and is committed to providing excellent customer service.
- If applicable, maintains the ability to interview, process, and act upon all types of loan applications and procedures. Responsible for coordination of lending procedures from branch to loan department following guidelines established.
- Ensures that the branch balances at close of each day. Helps Retail Banking Representatives and others to resolve balancing problems and authorize over/short adjustments.
- Assists with completion of the quarterly Branch Administration Report and ensures that deadlines are met.
- Participates in the allocation of retail sales goals and the achievement of individual sales goals.
- Looks for opportunities to cross sell and/or refer bank’s products and services to customers and prospects. Actively refers mortgage, investments, merchant services, treasury services, and title services to the appropriate financial institution specialists.
- Ability to review the Daily Overdraft Report and Returned Items Notification email from the Care Center and communicate any changes needed.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area and ensures confidential records are properly secured.
- Understands their role in case of robbery and know proper post-robbery procedures.
- If applicable, proficient in opening new accounts in accordance with proper procedures and compliance requirements.
- Performs maintenance on all account types.
- Follows procedures to ensure proper transaction posting to customer accounts and successful end-of-day balancing.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operates standard office equipment, including coin sorter, coin wrapper, currency counter, teller devices, copier/scanner, fax machine and typewriter.
- Ensures teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, etc.
- Assists in receiving and processing deposits for the Bank of Botetourt Elementary Savings Program.
Basic Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and strong computer skills.
- Excellent customer service skills, strong leadership skills, ability to multi-task, proficient in operating standard office machines.
