What are the responsibilities and job description for the Credit Analyst Trainee position at Bank of Ocean City?
Basic Function: Undergo training to develop the skills necessary to assess the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses applying for loans.
Essential Duties:
Customer Service:
- Consistently deliver outstanding customer service, anticipating customer needs and going above and beyond to ensure a seamless and memorable experience.
2. Credit Analysis & Risk Assessment:
- Assist in processing loan applications by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data.
- Evaluate credit scores, payment histories, and debt-to-income ratios.
3. Financial Data Review:
- Assist in spreading and interpreting financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
- Help prepare credit risk reports and summaries for loan committee approval.
- Learn to identify red flags in financial documents and suggest mitigating measures.
4. Loan Documentation and Communication:
- Ensure that all required documents are collected and verified before loan processing.
- Work closely with relationship managers and loan officers to gather necessary information from clients.
- Assist in preparing presentations and reports for senior management.
- Review and approve commercial and residential appraisals.
5. Training & Development:
- Participate in on-the-job training sessions on credit risk, financial analysis, and regulatory compliance.
- Shadow experienced credit analysts to gain hands-on experience.
6. Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Bank policies and procedures, as well as Federal banking laws, rules and regulations, including, but not limited to: monitoring for OFAC, adhering to BSA/AML/OFAC/CIP policies and procedures.
- Information Security Compliance – Actively contribute to the protection of confidential information, data, and systems. Adhere to established security protocols, remain alert for suspicious emails, message or links, and promptly report any suspected phishing attempts to the designated security contact.
Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
· Basic knowledge of financial statements and credit analysis concepts.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling is a plus.
· Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced banking environment.

Training and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or two or more years of related experience in related field, is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements of this position include, but are not limited to:
Sitting/Standing/Walking: Approximately 75% or more of time is spent working at a desk. Balance of time (25%, or “occasionally”) is spent moving around work areas. Ability to traverse one or more flights of stairs may be required.
- Speaking/Hearing: Clear dictation and acute hearing are necessary for effective and frequent (up to 75% of work time) communication with co-workers, customers, and outside agencies, by telephone and in person.
- Vision: Ability to effectively use a computer screen and to interpret printed materials, memos and other appropriate paperwork, 75% or more of work time.
- Lifting/Carrying: The ability to transport files, office supplies, and lifting up to a weight of 35 lbs. and occasionally, up to 50 lbs.
- Stooping/Kneeling: The ability to access files and supplies, with occasional stooping or kneeling
