Responsibilities and Duties:

WELDER
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications.
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
- Weld components using manual (SMAW), semi-automatic (FCAW & SAW) and auto welding equipment (SAW) in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
- Experience using Air Carbon Arc Gouging equipment.
- Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures.
- Experience in using electrical or manual tools.
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
- Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
- Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
- Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes.
- Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
- Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
- Operate welding equipment and tack weld fitted parts together.
- Mark reference points onto floors and transpose them to workpieces, using measuring devices, squares, chalk, and soapstone.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
- Must be able to constantly work in various indoor conditions including hot and cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions.
- Must be able to lift a maximum weight up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to carry a maximum weight up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching forward, balancing, feeling, object handling, simple hand grasping, firm hand grasping, and operating controls will be required.
- Regular sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching overhead, stooping, and crouching will be required.
