Avenue Scholars Customer Service Intern (this is for Des Moines High Schools students that are part of the Avenue Scholars program at their school).
Objective:
Provide Avenue Scholars Des Moines High School Students an opportunity to experience working in the Banking Industry. The program will help students understand how banks operate both behind the scenes and interacting with customers online, on the phone and in-person.
Structure:
- Location: Downtown Des Moines on the 22nd floor of the Ruan building.
- Duration: 8-10 weeks, average 20 hours per week (there may be more hours available at certain times due to projects). Flexible on days/times.
- Paid
- Mentorship: The Intern will work with the department manager as well as other employees job shadowing and participating in other projects and activities.
Work Assignments:
- Attend the Branch Appreciation Events
- Job shadow at a branch
- Calling- Debit Card customers that haven’t activated their new debit card yet
- Involved in producing and mailing Minor Letters to customer who are Minors
- Participate in Committee Events
- Work with other Summer Interns on projects and community events
Goals:
- Gain familiarity with banking (on a retail/consumer level)
- See some branch activity to gain understanding of customer service
- Learn about corporate job expectations
