What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Coordinator position at Banknote Corp of America?
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
With reasonable accommodations, if necessary, provide basic purchasing support, including sourcing materials, writing requests for quotes, obtaining competitive pricing, using ERP system, expediting purchased items and managing vendor returns.
This is a non-Exempt position, M-F 8AM-4:30PM, that may include OT when necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS OF THE POSITION:
- Coordinate with Production Control Manager, General Manager and other managers and supervisors on materials to be purchased and correct specifications and sources/negotiates for best value.
- Write purchase orders, obtain necessary approvals, places orders with vendors, and ensures delivery of correct material on a timely basis. Communicate shortfalls and issues to appropriate individuals and departments.
- Understand and utilize Seradex ERP system to maintain/update vendor database, process Purchase Orders, use Material requisitions, maintain inventory levels, transfer inventory, and run reports.
- Knowledge of Quality Management systems and claims analysis and coordinate vendor returns to obtain credit, arrange for return/replacement of defective material, etc.
- Coordinate with trucking companies for shipments based on production schedule, prepare shipping documents and notify customer service, security dept and customers of shipping schedule
- Schedule receiving/deliveries of material and notify security dept. and appropriate manager(s); obtain advance shipment notice from vendor
- Follow all safety, ethics and security polices
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supply Chain Manager, Quality Assurance/Customer Service Manager or other management personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to perform all essential functions of the position with reasonable accommodation, if required.
- High School Diploma and related manufacturing/inventory control experience or Associate’s degree (A.A. /A.A.S.) and experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong math skills including “Unit of Measure” conversions
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g. Seradex, S.A.P., MAPICS, MS Dynamics, etc) and MS Office
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong negotiating skills and have ability to analyze numerical data and financial reports
- Strong team player as well as having ability to work independently and have problem-solving skills.
