General Position Statement:
The Loan Officer I is responsible for meeting the banking needs of our customers. This position will be expected to focus on the generation, approval, and servicing of customer loans, within acceptable loan risk standards, while adhering to bank policy and regulations. This position is also responsible for the generation of deposit transactions necessary to accommodate loan funding.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Builds rapport and leverages customer relationships with existing and potential borrowers with the goal of meeting customer needs and exceeding their expectations.
Solicits and develops new business on an ongoing basis by calling on current and prospective customers for the generation of loans and deposits.
Interviews loan applicants, gathers loan request, customer (CIP), financials and organizational documents. Collects initial customer documents and ensures the completion of an accurate loan application.
Evaluate credit data, cash flow, financial statements, and collateral to determine the creditworthiness of applicants. Communicates reason for denial to applicants when their loan request has been denied, as necessary.
Reviews loan renewal requests to ensure the continued creditworthiness of the applicant and timely payment of the loan.
Submits required documents to Credit Analysis group for early discussion and processing.
Submits loan request memorandums to the loan committee for approval.
Prepares documents for loan processing including the loan worksheet, loan documentation sheet, and loan review sheet.
Perform beneficial ownership analysis and enter required information in nCino for credit.
Order appraisal/RE evaluation.
Verify all prefunding conditions have been met, including title work review, purchase agreements, appraisal value is sufficient to meet LTV requirement prior to close, and environmental conditions in approval, if applicable.
Preliminary review or Articles, Operating Agreements, Bylaws and Certificates of Good Standing for correct titling of borrowers.
Perform site visits prior to approval for inspection/verification of collateral.
Review financial statements, perform analysis, underwrite the market and comparable for feasibility, underwrite tenants, review leases, review project agreements, underwrite contractors and other third parties involved, consider the terms and conditions required by the borrower to provide feedback if we’d be interested in the credit.
Generate commitment letters and term sheets, if needed.
For construction loans:

Request environmental pre-screen process and completion of questionnaires.
Provide accurate and complete HMDA and CRA information requirements.
Responsible for accurately closing the loan which includes:
Reviewing the loan documents for exceptions.
Securing the proper signatures on all documents.
Approving funding of the loan.
Inspecting and evaluating collateral pledged to existing and prospective loans.
Services the loan from loan closing to the date of loan payoff. Ensures customer satisfaction throughout the life of the loans, resolving problems as they arise.
Review the Insufficient Funds (NSF) report daily, which includes:
Contacting the customer to ensure sufficient funds are available to cover checks submitted for payment.
Encoding the item for payment if sufficient funds can be made available.
Encoding the item to be returned if funds are not available.
Monitors the past due list to ensure loans are paid on a timely basis. Contacts and counsels customers with delinquent accounts, as necessary, by phone or letter to arrange loan payment.
Manages expired insurance.
Work with charged-off loans as time allows, attempting to work out a suitable payment schedule for the customer.
Participates in community affairs to increase the Bank’s visibility and to enhance new and existing business opportunities.
Maintains a thorough knowledge of Bank products, services, policies, procedures,
and appropriate regulatory issues as related to daily job functions, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy Act; Fair Lending Act; Regulation E; etc. Completes required compliance training and adheres to the Bank’s standard of conduct.
Perform other duties as requested.
Participation in the bank’s High-Performance Rewards Connections Program.
Make referrals to the Mortgage Center and Wealth Management.
Position Requirements:
1-3 Years of Similar or Related Experience Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
Banking or Finance or Loan Origination Experience
Previous BankPlus Product, Services, and Systems Experience Preferred
General Computer and Typing Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Including Excel, Work, and Outlook
Driving and Occasional Travel, As Needed for Business Purposes
Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
