Position Summary:

The Business Development Officer is responsible for building a business portfolio of deposits and cash management services. This position establishes, develops, and fosters quality business relationships within their market area. Establishment of relationships with potential clients to distinguish BankProv from the current provider and deliver tailored solutions professionally and effectively. This role supports the sales process from start to finish, including driving requirements for the market and managing relationships with clients.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Primary responsibility is to prospect for new business by networking, using COI’s, doing market research, and partnering with Commercial Lenders and Relationship Banking Managers
  • Proactively make daily contact with clients and prospects either by phone or in person to identify additional financial needs, initiate relationships, and attract or retain new business relationships.
  • Achieve quarterly/annual established growth goals for deposits and fee income to ensure the Bank meets its overall financial targets
  • Develop and maintain strong product knowledge in order to provide client with best value of service and the ability to cross sell additional products and services.
  • Make joint calls with Commercial Lenders and/or Relationship Banking Managers to develop new business and increase or retain relationships with existing clients
  • Remain up-to-date on market trends to stay relevant in the industry
  • Participate in professional, business and community activities to promote a positive public image in our markets.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding business goals, including revenue targets in similar business or with similar business dynamics
  • Demonstrated ability to cross-sell and explain all Bank products and services with confidence. Strong sales orientation with ability to “close” sale.
  • Must be a self-starter who can prioritize own activities and work alone in addition to collaborating with a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to work well in uncovering client needs and exceeding their expectations.
  • Ability to meet and exceed goals by managing daily and weekly sales activities
  • Must be flexible in meeting the needs of the prospect by having the ability to travel short or long distances as needed, in addition to virtual options
  • Flexibility needed with work schedule as it will include some evening work

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree preferably in sales, marketing, business or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum of three to five years’ experience within financial services institution with an emphasis on sales, business development and cash management.
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving, and access to vehicle

Travel:

Availability to travel on short notice to meet immediate business needs may be required.
