Job Title: Part-Time - Maintenance/Security

Job Location: North Grand Mall, Ames, IA – on bus route

Type of position: part time positions

Pay: $15

Shift: 3 nights a week - 4pm to 9pm (15 hours per week) Monday - Thursday

Job Skills / Requirements: Experience with basic hand tools is a plus. Will train. Sometimes a list of “today’s duties” will be left for you or texted to you. The following is a list of frequent job duties. Many of these tasks will not be daily, but it is a generalized list and your responsibilities are not limited to only these tasks:

• Custodial/Housekeeping
• Sweeping/mopping as needed.
• Cleaning of entryways and door handles.
• Cleaning tables/chairs/trash cans.
• Emptying trash cans and changing bags.
• Moving tables and chairs aside as needed.
• Changing toilet paper rolls and soap dispensers in restrooms.
• Cleaning of toilets/walls/floors of restrooms.
• Occasionally using plunger to unclog a toilet (OR lock stall door and put up Out-of-Order sign)
• General Maintenance
• Locking/Unlocking doors at a certain time.
• Picking up someone else’s construction mess/tools during and after big projects.
• Helping build or tear down both temporary and permanent walls.
• Putting away foldable tables and chairs at the end of events. Folding tablecloths.
• Going onto rooftop and helping with basic HVAC routine maintenance—no experience required.
• Moving items from one storage area to another (often moving around the same items).
• Responding to phone calls from tenants about small requests.
• Logging and dealing with lost and found.
• Assisting other maintenance personnel with 2-person projects.
• Outdoor projects
• Pulling weeds, spraying weed killer.
• Picking up trash on foot with grabbers and a bucket
• Sweeping leaves
• Sweeping up cigarette butts (daily)
• Cleaning/sweeping/scrubbing things on an as-needed basis.
• Will need to help with snow removal when winter comes (Winter clothes are provided). For night shift, this only requires a small amount of shoveling and salting. A small path in the snow from the door the edge of the sidewalk is all that is required at night.

Calling in sick the day of your shift without a doctor’s note should be a rare occurrence. Frequent cases of this will result in a written warning; further cases will result in a permanent reduction of hours or termination of employment (unexpected hospital visits are of-course the exception).
