What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at Banks Veterinary Service?
We are a mixed animal practice in Banks, OR, seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant (VA) to join our amazing team. Our busy, four-doctor practice is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care to both our patients and clients. We proudly serve a broad community, extending from the Coast to parts of the Portland-Metro area.
Position:
The VA role is essential to the overall success and well-being of the practice, requiring a high level of integrity, strong interpersonal skills, and technical proficiency. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of prior experience in a veterinary assistant role. Proficiency in veterinary terminology, exceptional communication skills (including grammar and spelling), the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively, basic computer skills, and a genuine desire for continuous learning and professional growth are essential qualities for this position.
Required technical competencies include, but are not limited to, proficiency in animal restraint, subcutaneous (SQ) injections, and venipuncture.
Day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing appointments, collecting laboratory samples, assisting in surgical procedures (including setup, patient care, and cleaning), filling prescriptions, educating clients, administering treatments as directed by the veterinarians, processing payments, answering phones, and performing a variety of other tasks. Some cleaning and stocking duties will also be required. A complete job description will be provided during the interview process.
