Summary Of Position

The Business Development Associate (BDA) will use independent judgment to assist the Business Development Officer in loan production activities to facilitate production as well as provide time for the BDO to concentrate on marketing activities. In addition, the BDA will assist in loan production and global marketing activities to allow time for the Managing BDO to recruit and manage the team.

Requirements

Responsibilities include:

Being knowledgeable in underwriting needs and the upfront loan process.

  • Answer questions and assist in training new BDO’s and support personnel in the technical aspect of proper loan application flow and submission.
  • Direct support in loan production and complete package loan submission. This would be subject to individual BDO volume and workflow requirements.
  • Handle smaller loans start to finish on case-by-case basis with new streamlined process.
  • Provide back up for the BDO when they are away from the office.
  • Provide a feel of continuity and professionalism to the customer as well as having the ability to gather the required information to analyze and prescreen in the BDO’s absence.
  • Back office and underwriting support.
  • Act as an SBA expert with experience in closing in the market being covered, liaison with underwriting, closing, attorneys, and title to ensure the smooth communication and flow of information.
  • “Go to” person for back office when BDO and / or customer is unavailable.
  • Participates in the development of close working relationships with external bank partners in conjunction with BDO activities.
  • Works with the BDO towards completing documentation necessary to submit a loan application to credit.
  • Analyzes, originates, and monitors a variety of more routine, less complex SBA loans.
  • Gathers related financial and general business information as directed, coordinates and performs financial analyses needed to make credit decisions.
  • Assists the BDO with interviewing prospective applicants and requests specified information related to loan application; continually corresponds with applicants to resolve questions regarding application information.
  • Assists the BDO in the collection of application items and construction of submission packages.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years direct SBA or commercial lending experience in sales production support and/or back-office credit support.
  • Superior working knowledge and abilities in all aspects of the SBA loan or commercial production process from sales to closing.
  • Expertise in loan and credit analysis, SBA guidelines and requirements and all typically utilized software.
  • Strong working knowledge of title and escrow processes.
  • Excellent customer relations ability.
  • Self-starter able to work remotely on an individual basis.
  • Team player with ability to work well with groups.
  • Ability to work with various software such as Microsoft Office Suite, SalesForce, HubSpot, nCino, SPARK, etc.
