Banner Health in Northern Colorado is seeking a physics assistant for a full-time position in radiation oncology. The physicist will join a team of two physicists to provide physics services for three APEx-accredited integrated sites in beautiful Northern Colorado. All three sites will employ TrueBeam linear accelerators, RayStation treatment planning, and Mosaiq R&V. Two sites use GammaMed HDR afterloaders with BracyhVision treatment planning. One site uses a TrueBeam STX and ExacTrac for an active SRS program.
Banner Health in Northern Colorado is currently CAMPEP accredited for a medical physics residency program, and anticipates taking it’s first resident in the 2026 cycle. They successful physics assistant will have an opportunity to transition into a full-time resident in a CAMPEP-accredited program in 2026. The Banner Colorado resident will collaborate with physicists and co-residents across the Banner network.

Core Functions
Under the supervision of staff physicists, the physicist assistant performs monthly and annual linac QA, CT QA, and HDR source exchange QA. The physics assistant performs patient-specific IMRT QA, and daily HDR QA. The physics assistant performs weekly patient chart checks. The physics assistant assists the dosimetry team with records requests, and restoring archived treatment plans. The physics assistant will have the opportunity to lead clinical and research projects under the supervision of staff physicists. The physics assistant operates within radiation safety standards and regulatory requirements and follows established departmental policies and procedures to maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. The physics assistant participates in staff continuing education, and physics resident educational programming. The physics assistant consistently demonstrates Banner core values:

Banner McKee Medical Center is a 117-bed, acute-care hospital in Loveland, Colorado, a vibrant arts community located 40 minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park. Position Summary
This position is a graduate of accredited graduate program with Phd or MS degree who is enrolled in their first year of a multi-year postgraduate training program with the expectation of becoming board eligible in a specific specialty, upon the completion of the program. This position under supervision provides physicists services by following department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. This position ensures optimal care/treatment of patient population.
Core Functions
PH.D or Masters Degree in Medical Physics or other related discipline is required.
Must be eligible for certification from the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics or equivalent within 4 years of hire and licensure by the state regulatory agency where required. BLS certification.
Must possess knowledge in medical physics including regulations governing the use of radiation in medicine, advanced computer skills, advanced treatment planning, and quality control procedures. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, analyze data and solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Core Functions
- Verifies proper operation and safety of all machines and sources producing radiation in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
- Performs measurements or other evaluations as necessary to ensure accurate dose delivery for treatments. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.
- Provides support and assistance in delivery of all radiation therapy treatments, including advanced specialized therapies. Assists in or performs computer treatment planning as needed. Assists in the evaluation and implementation of new therapies and protocols. Serves as a physics services resource for all staff.
- Assists in staff continuing education on appropriate medical physics and radiation safety procedures as needed. Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Ensures all radiation safety standards and regulatory requirements are met.
- Participates in regular quality assurance reviews. Ensures proper documentation is recorded and maintained.
- Under supervision performs procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols to patients. Internal customers: All levels of radiation oncology, nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.
PH.D or Masters Degree in Medical Physics or other related discipline is required.
