Purpose of Class

Provides support to the Intake and Diversion Unit at the Village; overseeing the engagement, screening, and assessment process of youth and families referred to The Village through the following pathways; Self-Referrals, Community Resource Worker, Community, and Medical Providers. Informs families of the function of The Village, enters client data into the data systems and assigns cases. Collaborates with Community Resource Workers and School Counselors to refer youth and families to appropriate community resources, and assists the Community Resource Workers and School Counselors with the creation of case management plans.


Primary Function

A principal function of an employee in this class is to schedule, coordinate, and facilitate screenings and assessments for youth and families referred to The Village. Collaborate with Community Resource Workers, School Counselors, and Families to match the individual needs of youth and families to appropriate community resources and services. To assist in the creation of a case management plan that Community Resource Workers and School Counselors use to assist families and ensure services are provided.


The second principal function of an employee in this class is to enter client data into the data system, which includes; Engagement form information, uploading screenings, assessments, and case management plans. Using the data entry to assist in quarterly and yearly reports. The work is performed under the supervision of the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer. The Principal duties of this class are performed in a general office environment and in the field.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (will vary by assignment)

  • Supervises and performs the operation and coordination of the Family Engagement and Community Referral Program.
  • Coordinates the Self/Community Referral Program with school officials, law enforcement agencies, local community providers, and families and youth.
  • Reviews engagement and citation paperwork, schedules, interviews, screens, notifies and prepares youth and families for the screening and assessment process.
  • Enters client information, including engagement and citation paperwork into the data system.
  • Collaborates with youth, families, community resource workers, school counselors and medical providers to coordinate evidenced based resources from local community providers.
  • Screens, assesses, and assigns youth and families to appropriate prevention program.
  • Prepares, youth and families who are required to attend Admit/Deny hearing for the court process.
  • Determines court recommendations, prepares Admit/Deny forms, forwards citation and court information on to Probation Department for initial Admit/Deny hearing.
  • Represents the Family Engagement, Self and Community Referral Prevention Program to the public and community groups.
  • Provides direction, cross training and assistance to AmeriCorps service members, interns, and others.
  • Assists and performs other duties within the Intake and Diversion Unit.
  • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with county policies, procedures, and safety practices.

Acceptable Experience and Training:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency is required and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral or social sciences, or a related field is preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in probation monitoring, social services, or court related behavioral services with at-risk youth is preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Special Qualifications:

  • Idaho driver's license is required.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is required

Essential Physical Abilities:

  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review and prepare a variety of written and text materials.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate standard office equipment, including a personal computer, and operate a motor vehicle.
  • Sufficient personal mobility, agility, and physical strength and reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to work in and office and field environment.
