CLINICAL EDUCATOR- POC

Overview :

The Clinical Educator Point of Care (POC) serves as the Point of Care or designated unit EDUCATOR for new employee orientation and facilitates annual team members development through formal and informal in-services and training programs. The educator collaborates with the Clinical Education team to provide computer orientation and retraining as deemed necessary. He / she facilitates quality reports to assure proper documentation and follow through are being met. The educator is a RN who follows / teaches the established nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. He / She ensures adherence to hospital or department policies, and nursing procedures, standards, and practices. This role functions to assure nursing practices are aligned systemically with evidence based practice and regulatory compliance. The Clinical Educator POC participates in planning and implementing initiatives aimed at improving clinical quality outcomes and achieving departmental annual goals. In alignment with the BHC system goals, the Clinical Educator POC plays a key role in driving improvements in quality and service with a focus on improvement of departmental retention rates, HCAHPS scores and Hospital Acquired Condition rates. In collaboration with other certified clinicians serves as the clinical subject matter expert and internal consultant to leadership assuring that professional standards of practice in the clinical area are integrated into decision making, operations, and practice. Assesses, designs, presents, and coordinates educational programs, in-services, and orientation for the departmental team members. Works well with all members of the hospital community. The educator is responsible for providing team member development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader and researcher. This role supports the development of bedside clinical team members, and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidence based nursing practice. This occurs through the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development. In addition, as a role model of professional behavior, the educator is instrumental in creating a professional nursing climate to meet the diverse and global needs of the facility. Travel may be required to facilitate collaboration with entities across Baptist Health Care. The person in this position works under general supervision and is responsible for various shifts including some nights and weekends, callback if required, and may be subject to over 40 hours per week. Educator may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and / or disasters. The Clinical Educator POC will be responsible for continuing education of unit team members orientation to the unit, educational programs, as well as team members development including training activities, mentoring, and being a clinical resource. The Clinical Educator POC will collaborate with the designated unit manager and other clinical personnel weekly to identify learning needs and areas of improvement related to patient care outcomes on the unit.

Qualifications :

• Bachelors of Nursing required. Masters Degree in healthcare related field within two years of employment / transfer required
• Two (2) years of Acute care nursing experience is required.
• Current RN licensure in the state of Florida is required.
• BLS and ACLS through American Heart Association are required.
• Nationally Accredited Certifications required within two (2) years of employment / transfer.
• Demonstrates leadership skills and a commitment to education as a methodology for promoting continuous quality improvement in the delivery of patient care and services.
• Proficient in EMR, CPOE and Medication Administration Programs.
