What are the responsibilities and job description for the PHLEBOTOMY TEAM LEADER position at Baptist Health Care?
Overview :
The Phlebotomy Team Lead assists in monitoring the activities of Couriers and / or Phlebotomist working thought the laboratory in various inpatient and outpatient settings. Team Leader is able to make appropriate decisions in the absences of the department manager. Team Leader functions as a phlebotomist and performs veinipuncture on inpatients and / or outpatients (pediatrics thru geriatrics) to obtain blood for laboratory tests according to laboratory department procedures. The Team Leader is cross trained in all disciplines he / she monitors. The Team Leader maintains high visibility by working side by side team members ensuring services promised are provided to all laboratory customers. Team Leader manages up with customer service issues, employee recognitions and disciplinary issues and is instrumental in the peer review hiring process for Couriers and / or Phlebotomist.
The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and / or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and / or disasters.
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree is required
- Three (3) years experience required in Phlebotomy is required
- Demonstrates the ability to make good decisions; Able to make the appropriate decisions in absence of supervisor
- Demonstrates the ability to achieve goals and be resourceful
- Must be able to work closely in a team as well as independently and is able to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Level II background screening is required
