Job Description:
ED Technician
Part-Time I First Shift (24 hours)
Emergency Department I Lexington, KY
An Emergency department (ED) that provides 24-hour emergency care to patients who need urgent medical attention for severe injuries or illness.
Description:
- The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) functions within the multidisciplinary team that cares for the ED patient under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and coordination of patient care/department flow.
- Working knowledge of appropriate computer functions and systems for assigned duties.
- Maintains work area to ensure efficient operation and workflow.
- Collects, process, transports and analyzes specimens according to approved standards of testing per laboratory policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates proficiency in patient care, according to hospital policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year clinical classes in nursing school and validation of a clinical consistent with level of education, or Emergency Medical Technician certification.
- BLS/ACLS
- Previous laboratory or customer service experience preferred.
- Data entry and computer experience and /or phlebotomy, point of care testing experience preferred.
