Laboratory Technician- Full Time, Second Shift
Status: Full Time
Shift: Second
Job Summary:
Performs waived and moderate high complexity testing according to CLIA β88 guidelines; interprets
and reports results for established tests and examinations in at least one of the following fields within
the clinical laboratory: Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, and Microbiology. Performs
quality control, quality assurance and maintenance. Works independently but under the supervision of the department coordinator or a certified technologist/technician. Duties may also include clerical tasks and related laboratory services.
Requirements:
Associates degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited
institution, or at least 60 semester hours, or equivalent, from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, includes:
- 6 hours each of chemistry and biology
- 12 hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination
- Completion of an approved or accredited clinical laboratory training program
- 3 months of documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
