Job Description:
Job Title: Phlebotomist
This is a float position working all 3 shifts. Every other weekend is required.
Job Description:
Collects blood specimens (both venous and capillary) from adult and pediatric patients. Delivers clinical specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner to ensure efficient, accurate laboratory testing and patient care. Prompt specimen registration, and the courteous interaction with house staff, other departments and services are also duties of this position. Work as necessary to meet staffing needs and fulfill the mission, vision, and values of the hospital.
- Responsible for the collection of blood via the appropriate location and method from patients of all ages in a timely manner for laboratory testing.
- Responsible for limited bedside testing.
- Performance of non-Dot drug screens, breathalyzer testing, and blood alcohol collections.
- Additional responsibilities include answering phones, processing specimens for reference lab testing, receiving, filing, and delivering of lab reports and as assigned.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
