Summary
Directs the daily operation of the Security Department at assigned locations. Responsible for supervising departmental employees, maintaining policies and procedures, and ensuring safety needs of the hospitals and assigned buildings.
Responsibilities
- Direct activities and subordinates of the security department to ensure the effective functioning of the department.
- Coordinate security with System Director of Security & Safety.
- Establish and coordinate policies and procedures to enhance safety and security throughout assigned facilities.
- Responsible for the safe operation of parking facilities.
- Responsible for the investigation and resolution of security reports and criminal activity on the assigned campuses.
- Responsible for the management of patient valuables, firearms, and lost and found items as required by policy.
- May be responsible for conducting all Emergency Preparedness programs as directed by hospital leadership and Regulatory agencies.
- May facilitate Environment of Care committee.
- Supervise shift lieutenants and other leadership teams at the hospital.
- Utilizes defined tools, metrics, and key indicators to gauge organizational security and safety program performance and regularly reports findings to key leaders.
- Serves as subject matter expert regarding security and safety management issues
- Designs and delivers security awareness/updates, and/or training/education programs to team members.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Education
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree and/or graduate of an accredited law enforcement academy. Thorough knowledge of legal guidelines as related to security and law enforcement.
Minimum: High school diploma/GED, OR equivalent experience as required by the position
Experience
Preferred: 8 years of security and/or law enforcement equivalent experience. Supervisory experience of direct reports and a team. Two to five years in healthcare security and law enforcement management.
Minimum: 5 years of Security and/or Law Enforcement Equivalent experience.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
Preferred: NRA Firearms Instructor Certification
Minimum: Must obtain armed guard license within 90 days of hire date as required by state/company policy. Eligible for a State Handgun Permit as required by state law/company policy.
Special Skills
Preferred: Knowledge of security systems to include access control, video management systems, surveillance cameras, rounding systems, etc.
Minimum: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and facilitation skills. Ability to foster internal/external partnerships and/or lead others through open communication, collaboration, and teamwork.
Training
Preferred: Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) training
