Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility:
Provides operational leadership and oversight for the Foundation working in close collaboration with BMHCC Chief Development Officer, the Chief Executive Officer for the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center (MBMC) and physician leaders to ensure strategic goals and objectives are met. Responsibilities include but are not limited to participation in the development/implementation of fund raising strategies and tactics, management of an array of fund raising programs and services, cultivation of donors and prospective donors, on-going donor relations, strong community involvement to strengthen/promote fund raising efforts in order to increase gift giving levels for designated Foundation projects, campaigns and/or community events..
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Participates in the development and implementation of goals/objectives to meet designated Foundation gift giving needs and clinical/operational priorities. Evaluates fund-raising strategies as appropriate working in close collaboration with BMHCC Chief Development Officer (CDO) and MBMC administration.
- Develops implements donor cultivation strategies to increase planned gift giving and fund raising efforts and financial outcomes for designated Foundation funds and projects. Such strategies include donor retention and special recognition events/activities..
- Evaluates and recommends grant proposals and works collaboratively with CDO to facilitate appropriate grant opportunities/resources.
- Works closely with entity Administration and other key stakeholders to promote internal support for Foundation program needs.
- Develops and implements comprehensive community relations strategy working collaboratively with CDO to expand community awareness for designated projects, solicit support for development needs, and increase gift giving levels through community involvement and activities.
- Establishes and maintains volunteer networks and fund raising councils by identifying individuals who have a philanthropic interest in the activities necessary to implement successful development programs.
- Keeps informed on developments in the fields of law and taxation as they relate to giving by reading professional journals and attending seminars to be able to advise donors and prospects on tax advantages of various types of giving.
- Manages daily operations of assigned staff by monitoring work flow processes to ensure timely and accurate delivery of services.
- Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge/Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Business Administration or closely related field. Knowledge of constituent-based philanthropy, sales or marketing. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience: Four (4) years of sales and/or marketing experience with at least 2 years in management. Proven success in balancing multiple projects, meeting deadlines and cultivating interpersonal relationships. Proven ability to supervise assigned staff.
Licensure, Registration, Certification: Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:
Work requires little or no physical effort. Lifting or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) is intermittent (not a routine part of the job) and secondary to the job.
