Summary
Utilizes laboratory skills to perform and report results of clearly defined laboratory procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsible for assigned shifts and subject to overtime and call-back as required, performing other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
- Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
- Performs quality control, proficiency testing, routine instrument maintenance, and inventory control.
- Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
- Supports lifelong learning.
- Completes assigned goals.
Requirements, Preferences, and Experience
Education
State licensure and/or national registration or certification in accordance with current Federal and/or State Regulations is a minimum requirement.
Experience
Hospital experience is preferred, but not necessary. An accredited MLT program completion is a minimum requirement.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
ASCP certification is preferred.
Special Skills
Basic computer literacy is a minimum requirement.
