Job Title: Maintenance Person
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Village Manager
Summary of Responsibilities: The maintenance position has the overall responsibility for ensuring the Village is maintained in excellent condition and is fully functional. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of Baptist Village Communities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs maintenance functions inside and outside the Village.
2. Responds to reported maintenance issue/problems. Inspects the Village of potential maintenance problems.
3. Orders and maintains supplies.
4. Maintains all equipment in good working condition.
5. Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process.
6. Cleans grease spills properly.
7. Demonstrates knowledge of emergency and safety procedures.
8. Responsible for participating in and supporting the resident centered Life Enrichment program.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experienced in performing maintenance functions.
- Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions:
- Exposed to chemicals/cleaning solutions.
- Exposed to body fluids, odors, and behavior of residents.
Physical Demands:
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must be able to lift/push up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to lift, carry, bend, squat, crawl, reach, kneel, push, pull and twist using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time.
- Must be able to walk approximately four miles daily.
- Must not have any health conditions that prevent meeting the requirements of this position.
