Heavy Haul Dispatch and Permit Staffer

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating transportation activities, ensuring timely delivery of goods, and optimizing routes to enhance efficiency. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to analyze data effectively to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment. Heavy Haul experience Either by physically operations of Oversize loads or Oversize loads office management is a plus.

Duties

• Understanding of trailer combos, what each combo can haul, max weights of each combo
• Keeping track or truck and trailer annuals, and inspections
• Process Annual permit mileage tax for state of Idaho
• Dispatch of more than 3 trucks at an interstate and intrastate level
• Person needs to be detail oriented with great communication skills
• Utilize problem solving skills and have the ability to make adjustments on the fly
• Willing to answer phones during normal business hours, and after hours as needed
• Manage daily dispatch operations, including scheduling and routing of shipments
• Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to track shipments and monitor delivery progress
• Conduct data entry tasks related to shipping and receiving processes
• Analyze transportation data to identify trends and improve operational efficiency
• Communicate with drivers, customers, and vendors to ensure smooth logistics operations
• Utilize GPS technology for route optimization and real-time tracking of deliveries
• Collaborate with team members to resolve any issues that may arise during the shipping process
• Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities and ensure compliance with company policies

Qualifications

• Proven experience in dispatching or logistics is preferred
• Verizon Connect Reveal ELD system comprehension
• Dispatch experience for a heavy haul company, with knowledge of construction equipment, truck and trailer combos a plus
• Familiarity with transportation planning and management systems such as SyteLine is a plus
• Strong data entry skills with attention to detail
• Ability to analyze information effectively and make quick decisions under pressure
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
• Proficient in using GPS technology for route planning
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with various stakeholders
• Basic computer knowledge, email, Microsoft office, etc.
• Proficiency in FMCSA compliance, DOT compliance, and ELD compliance while also staying up to date with the continually changing laws
• Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes is advantageous
• Extensive understanding of permits, the permit process, reading permits, ordering permits
• Willing to train if candidate has knowledge of truck and trailer combos and basic federal logbook laws
