Bar Angie is a chic, day-to-night bistro inspired by classic New York bistros and infused with European flair. Bar Angie is the brainchild of Stefanos Vouvoudakis, Tom Tsiplakos, and Joe Ragonese, the principals of Balos Estiatorio Restaurant Group and native New Yorkers who dreamed of bringing their favorite hometown dishes and the feeling of a New York neighborhood bistro to DC.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and charismatic Lead Host to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, a deep understanding of seating, flow of reservations, and is highly skilled at guest communication. The host will be responsible for ensuring an exceptional dining experience for all guests, a consistent flow when seating, working well under pressure, and maintaining the highest standards of service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome guests with warmth and professionalism
- Manage reservations and seating arrangements to optimize the dining experience and alternate sections of servers properly
- Review reservation notes and requests and communicate these with management to ensure success
- Ensure consistent, high-quality service throughout the dining room
- Address guest concerns and complaints with grace and efficiency
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the menu, wine list, and daily specials
- Train and mentor host staff to uphold the restaurant’s standards
- Manage daily operations, including host opening and closing procedures
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a lead host or in a similar role in an equal caliber restaurant
- Understanding of French cuisine
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven leadership and team management abilities
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations with poise and professionalism
- Knowledge of reservation systems (OPEN TABLE)
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- A warm, approachable demeanor and a genuine passion for hospitality
