What are the responsibilities and job description for the BSA/AML Analyst II position at Bar Harbor Bankshares?
Responsibilities (Essential):
- Review various reports and case lists to determine the need for an investigation and/or to prevent monetary loss.
- Perform investigations and reports findings to the BSA/AML Officer.
- Analyze high-risk customers and relationships to determine acceptable activity.
- Interact with Law Enforcement agencies on cases as needed and under the direction of the BSA/AML Officer.
- Provide backup personnel coverage for internal investigations and currency transaction report processing.
- Review alerts generated in Yellow Hammer from FinCEN’s 314(a) confidential list for potential matches within Bank records.
- Review system-generated alerts relative to OFAC; research and follow up to record and report findings under the direction of the BSA/AML Officer.
- Identify weaknesses in training and/or processes and work with the BSA Officer to address the same.
- Positively contribute toward successful completion of internal audits and external examinations, including those performed by FDIC and BOFI.
- Enthusiastically support the Bank’s Guiding Principles and Brand Behaviors.
- Adhere to federal regulatory requirements, such as the Anti-Money Laundering and Bank Secrecy Act

Required Education & Experience:
- Minimum of a high school degree or the equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated BSA/AML operations and compliance experience in the financial services industry required.
- The successful candidate must have and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, and OFAC regulations.
- Desire to work with others to develop solutions for internal and external customers.
- Strong analytical written and verbal communication skills are required, with a focus on attention to detail.
- Must be professional, a multitasker, and work well independently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to function with a high degree of independence or collaboratively within a team, making decisions quickly using sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to research analyze and present investigative findings to management.
- Working knowledge of Windows-based software programs is required, along with the ability to adapt to various software programs as required.
- Knowledge or experience working in Branch/Retail Operations or Bank Operations.
