We are looking for a Server/Bartender for Bar Publica in Portland, ME!
The ideal candidate will be an individual with a passion for creating cocktails, and providing a genuine experience in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a focus on speed and quality, and an upbeat attitude at all times. Dedication to presentation is a must. Also must possess a strong knowledge of spirits, wine, and beer, as well as the ability to make suggestions based on guest needs. This is a high-energy environment, and that energy is expected to be maintained at all times.
All FOH employees are expected to rotate between serving and bartending shifts throughout the week.
The Server/Bartender is the face of the business, our guests’ first and last impression. Expectations for the position include:
- TiPS certified
- Maintains cash accountability as related to the bar and guests served (including accurate tracking of money owed, paid and received)
- Ensures that all cash handling and financial transactions, as they relate to the bar, are completed in an ethical and transparent manner
- Ensures careful handling of bar product to avoid product loss through poor prep / service or storage practices
- Assists in the promotion of all sales development activities as they relate to the bar business
- Greets guests and presents Beverage / Food / Special Menus as applicable
- Enters guest orders directly into the POS system, prepares guest checks and processes payment
- Ensures satisfactory resolution to all guest issues; informing the MOD promptly & prior to the guest leaving, even if the issue has been “resolved”
- Adheres to all local and state laws regarding the service of alcohol and food (ID’ing / responsible alcohol service / service times / health and safety practices etc.)
- Ensures that the bar, or section as applicable, is maintained in an organized, clean and sanitary manner
- Keeps Service Stations areas clean, organized and stocked
- Ensures that all set-up and break-down tasks are completed to standard
- Cleans and maintains glassware, bar utensils and bar equipment
- Daily preparation of beverage related ingredients such as juices, syrups, and garnishes
- Completes all general operational tasks to standard
- Crosses over with incoming / outgoing bar team as required to ensure efficient shift changes (review of open tabs / guest introductions / completion of daily & weekly side-work / bar prepped for next shift etc.)
COMPENSATION
- Compensation for the role is $12/hour, plus full share on tip pool
REPORTING
This position will report to the Bar Manager; as well the General Manager on a shift by shift basis as required / is applicable
