About the Opportunity
We are seeking a polished, personable and organized Maître D' at Bar Sardine to serve as the face of our restaurant. This individual will play a key role in creating a warm and welcoming experience for every guest, ensuring smooth operations at the front of house, and coordinating with the entire team to deliver exceptional service.
Core Responsibilities
Guest Relations
- Welcome guests warmly and with genuine hospitality, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience
- Manage reservations and walk-ins efficiently, ensuring optimal seating arrangements to maximize guest satisfaction and table turnover
- Handle special guest requests, including celebrations, dietary needs and accessibility accommodations
Team Coordination
- Collaborate with the management team, servers and kitchen team to ensure smooth communication and service flow
- Maintain an accurate understanding of table availability, wait times and guest preferences
Reservation and Host Stand Management
- Oversee the reservation system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Provide training and support to the host team, ensuring they deliver exceptional service and uphold restaurant standards
Resolution Management
- Address guest concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues to management as needed
- Proactively prevent and resolve potential service disruptions with a solutions oriented approach
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a or in a similar front-of-house leadership role in a fine-dining or upscale restaurant
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with guests and team members alike
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in managing reservations and guest flow
- A warm, professional demeanor with a focus on delivering outstanding guest experiences
- Familiarity with reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable, Resy) and basic computer skills
- Knowledge of fine-dining service standards, including etiquette and table management
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure during peak dining hours
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the restaurant as needed
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays
- Knowledge of wine and menu pairings to assist in guest inquiries
