BAR MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Bar Manager role will oversee the operations of our vibrant bar. The role is committed to ensuring high-quality customer service and the capacity to handle the pressure of restaurant work and management. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for crafting exceptional cocktails, and a strong leadership in managing a team.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Staff Management:
- Hire, train, and develop bar staff, including bartenders and barbacks.
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to improve performance.
- Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts promptly.
- Inventory Control:
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of liquor, beer, wine, and other bar supplies.
- Place timely orders to avoid stockouts and minimize waste.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts to ensure accuracy.
- Financial Management:
- Partner with the Restaurant Manager to develop and manage the bar's budget.
- Monitor and control costs, including labor, food, and beverage expenses.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Customer Service:
- Foster a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all guests.
- Resolve customer complaints and issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Train staff on exceptional customer service standards.
- Operations:
- Oversee the daily operations of the bar, including opening and closing procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all liquor laws and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized bar area.
- Develop and implement innovative drink menus and promotions.
- Event Planning:
- Coordinate and execute special events, such as cocktail parties and private functions.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless event execution.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ ABILITIES:
- Proven experience as a Bar Manager or similar role
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Must have a great attitude and ability to motivate others
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of liquor, beer, and wine
- Strong problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, ability to handle tense situations with team and customers calmly and rationally
- Ability to meet physical and scheduling demands of the position, including, walking, standing, or lifting heavy items for extended periods and working nights, weekends, and holidays.
- TIPS certification (or willingness to obtain)
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Restaurant Experience preferred.
- At least 2 years in a management role.
