Job Summary : Reporting directly to the President / CEO, the ACD & VP, Research Administration is responsible for administrative support of research at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and Wayne State University.Supports the efforts of faculty and research by building, guiding, and creating a strong infrastructure designed to efficiently and effectively support the future direction and combined contributions of researchers and research.Central to the strong research infrastructure are the pre- and post-award strategic, financial, operational, and administrative activities surrounding the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), its resources, and Cores.
Responsibilities :
- Assist and support the President / CEO in establishing the strategic direction and administration of the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.
- Promotes, regulates, and administers the research effort to help foster its growth and excellence.
- Responsible for all administrative activities supporting research at the Institute including the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), basic science grants, and clinical trial contracts.
- Supervises the Director, Clinical Trials Office, who is responsible for prioritizing limited resources and funds in support of clinical trials research.
- Supervises the Director, Laboratory Operations, who is responsible for providing guidance in creating an administrative infrastructure for the development, coordination, and planning of the laboratory-based resources, Core facilities, and the Prentis Building.
- Supervises the Director, Research Finance, who oversees the strategic planning, management, and review of the fiscal operations of sponsored research grants, contracts, and research fund accounts at both the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, and Wayne State University.
- Supervises the Director, Grants and Contracts, who oversees the preparation of all cancer-related grants, contracts, clinical trials, and subcontracts.
- Supervises the Director, Clinical and Administrative Systems, who leads information technology staff in project design and the integration of third party software products relating to the clinical trial and research administration systems.
- Supervises the Director, Basic and Population Science Systems, who leads information technology staff in project design and software development relating to basic and population sciences systems.
- Works closely with the External Advisory Board in establishing strategic direction on issues relating to the Cancer Center Support Grant.
