About the Position : Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) has overall strategic and operational responsibility for Barbara’s House staff, programs, and execution of its mission. She or he will develop deep knowledge of the field, core programs, operations, and business plans and then work to achieve the goals of the strategic plan.Key Responsibilities : Leadership & Management : Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; establish and follow timelines needed to achieve the strategic goals. Actively engage and energize Barbara’s House volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders. Support a strong Board of Directors; serve as ex-officio to each committee; seek and build board involvement with strategic direction. Lead, coach, develop, and retain high-performance team of 5 full time and 6 part time employees; recruit new staff as needed. Ensure effective systems to track growth and progress and regularly evaluate program components to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents. Build partnerships in new markets, maintain and establish new relationships with the funders, and political and community leaders at each expansion site.Fundraising & Communications : Expand revenue generation and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and develop new ones, support volunteers in event planning, management and execution. Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand. Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities. Identify and collaborate with board to secure new funding opportunities. Willing to be the face of the organization and interact with other agencies.Qualifications : Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Possess strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills. Have 10 years of experience as a senior manager in a non-profit or public organization. Be comfortable as public face of organization able to represent Barbara’s House successfully to donors, colleagues, public officials, volunteers, clients. Be skilled in developing and managing budgets. Be knowledgeable in software and programs including QuickBooks, Paychex, PayPal. Flexibility required to meet evening and weekend responsibilities as required.
